What you see is what you get…

I am a full-time education administrator currently employed by the Waterloo Region District School Board (WRDSB).  I will retire from that employment effective July, 2012.  I work with special needs students enrolled in youth custody, mental health, behaviour, enrichment, developmental education and a maternity home.

I also am a freelance writer. I write articles for magazines and newspapers, opinion pieces, and book reviews. My published works are primarily non-fiction. I am also intrigued by writing short stories and longer fictional pieces.

I also teach part-time for Queen’s University, Kingston, ON. I have taught  additional qualifications courses for teachers in Behaviour and Special Education.

My husband, John, and I are proud parents of three very terrific children: Cory, Kathleen and Carolyn. Cory just completed a degree at York and lives in Toronto.  Kathleen is completing teacher’s training. Carolyn is in her third year as a full-time secondary school teacher and makes her home with husband Jeff in the Northwest Territories.

We will soon make our permanent home at our residence in Bruce County.
Fitness is very important to me, to find balance and love of life. I participate in cycling, aquatics, Zumba, yoga, hiking, X-country skiing and snow shoeing.

I love to garden, water colour paint and piece random pieces of fabric to build small quilt projects. I am intrigued by the patterns in nature, fabrics, art, language and life in general.

My husband and I like to travel. A while back we visited sunny Cuba with the family to celebrate our thirtieth wedding anniversary and last summer we sorjourned to the Northwest Territories.   We went to Quebec City last summer and to Punta Cana this winter.  We look forward to a cruise up the BC coast to Alaska in late summer.
